Michael and Jeannie Stinton – Education Directors

The KA Youth Group (all teens) meets weekly on Shabbat (11:40am) for study and fellowship after they attend the first part of the Shabbat main service at the shul.    They also meet on Tuesday nights, 6:30-8:30 pm, to hang out, play some serious games (can you say “water balloon war!”) and have Bible study. Both Shabbat and Tuesday programs offer our teens a place to connect with like-minded young people, grow in their faith and to better understand their Jewish heritage.  The groups are facilitated by our two college interns (Dan Schley and Aaron Kasdan) as well as several adult voluteers.  Talk to Michael and Jeannie Stinton (Education Directors) about some great upcoming social outings and community service opportunities.

KA Young Adult/Youth Seder a Success!

On Friday, April 2nd, the youth held a seder at the home of Michael and Jeannie Stinton. It was a very sweet time spending the evening sharing the elements of Pesach together, and enjoying each other’s company. A group of twenty mixed adults, junior high, high school, and college sharing dinner together. After prayer and the lighting of the Shabbos candles, the seder began as each attendee took a turn reading from the Haggadah. This was especially valuable as each one, young and old alike, were given an opportunity to be a active voice in the celebration. After the first half of the seder,  a delicious  dinner was served and a time of fellowship allowed the youth to enjoy each other’s company. The liturgy was resumed and the ceremony was ended with an open invitation for any of the youth to contribute their reflections on the meaning of the tradition and celebrated history. It was a wonderful time for all of our youth to be together, united as mishpacha. Thank you to all who made the youth seder a success!
