Hiking Havurah at Cowles Mountain Hike or Lake Murray Walk
Cowles Mountain Hike And Lake Murray Walk
“They continued faithfully in the teaching of the emissaries, in fellowship, in breaking bread and in the prayers. Everyone was filled with awe, and many miracles and signs took place through the emissaries. All those trusting in Yeshua stayed together and had everything in common; in fact, they sold their property and possessions and distributed the proceeds to all who were in need. Continuing faithfully and with singleness of purpose to meet in the Temple courts daily, and breaking bread in their several homes, they shared their food in joy and simplicity of heart, praising God and having the respect of all the people. And day after day the Lord kept adding to them those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
Simply put, it is an amazing group of people from different walks (pun intended) of life and backgrounds who share time and effort with each other almost every Sunday morning to hike up Cowles Mountain, which is located at San Diego, California. At the same time of the hike, there is another group who leisurely strolls around Lake Murray, also located at San Diego, California. If there is a greater gathering of the San Diego Jewish community on the same day as the hike/walk, we will attend that function instead. Others are encouraged to attend, even if they haven’t participated in the hike/walk, for “nosh” and chatting with friends. After the hike/walk, we promptly meet at a local coffee shop for “nosh” and storytelling of our adventures. The morning’s events ends in prayers and blessings for the week to come.
On the different holidays, we plan and organize outings within greater San Diego County as a way of spending more time with each other. We also use any excuse, Jewish or secular holidays, to take turns meeting at each other’s homes once a month for eating and chatting.
- We meet most Sunday mornings at 7:00 AM at the Cowles Mountain, at the restroom and parking area, which is located at Navajo Road and Golf Crest, San Diego, CA. Once a month we try to explore a new trail in SD County so call the KA office for the latest plans. All events open to all and kids are most welcome. Even dogs if the area allows.
- Another group meets at 7:00 AM at Lake Murray for a Sunday morning stroll around the lake.
