Yrena Friedmann – International Outreach Coordinator
July 17, 2010
Thanks to those of you who pray for the International Ministry and especially for the ministries that we support abroad. Many thanks to Sharon Lynn who supported us by creating the Prayer Newsletter over the past year and has now decided to focus her ministry efforts in other areas. Prayer requests and updates are now communicated via the KA email prayer chain. Thanks to Patty Kolb who promptly forwards information to those on the distribution list; a current summary is listed at the bottom of this report.
Thanks to many of you who helped to support the recent UMJC trip to Israel last month by contributing over 15 grocery bags for the humanitarian outreach portion of the trip where pilgrims ministered to Ethiopian Jews. A collection kick-off was held at the Carlsbad Havurot with an Israeli dinner and where over dozens of toothbrushes and tooth paste for sensitive teeth, hair straightener, make-up for dark complexions, socks, toys and money was donated. Valerie Cooper was able to get her company to donate 50 high quality back packs for the school aged children and another member of our KA family gave several large black baby dolls (a rare find!) Thanks to Phil Teran who helped with the collections on several Shabbats. We heard the trip was an epic event and were happy to help in this way.
We have spent the last several months scouting out opportunities for potential humanitarian outreach in Mexico and outreach training by joining Frank and Marianne Rosas in ministering to Messianic congregations in Mexico (Sonia Roberts, Yisrael and Aviva Vazquez are also part of the ministry team) as well as attending the Chosen People Summer Training Evangelism Program (STEP) in New York City last month. We are hoping to share our ideas with the KA Board of Directors soon in regards to ways to enhance international outreach preparation and participation in hands-on activities here at KA. More details to come.
Here are some updates from the ministries you help to support with your tithes and offerings:
David Kasdan — David is expected to be home at the end of this month after spending 6 months serving at JSP/JAMM with his videoproduction skills. He has several videos on the internet (“I care†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmv_Dq7tj8Y, “Savuot 2008 Interviews in Jerusalem†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjGCeb6ZFYo). He is asking for prayer on job opportunities when he returns to the US and that the Jerusalem kehila will be able to keep their media production up with new member joining the team that he has trained. You can also check out his photos and journal his “facebookâ€. www.jerusalemsp.blogspot.com
Richard and Yardena Frieden (JSP/JAMM; Jerusalem, Israel)— Richard and Yardena’s ministry has been able to reestablish the JSP outreach center and continuing a local congregation that provides a positive and creative environment for young people to discover who they are in God, learn of God and grow in a passion and love for God by the transforming power of the gospel of Yeshua. Specific prayer requests include:
1. for their team’s excellent work in worship, media, evangelism and humanitarian outreach
2. for new wave Jerusalem congregation
3. for funds to secure the purchase of new JSP outreach center/congregation in the center of Jerusalem.
Moshe Morrison (Tents of Mercy/Ohalei Rachamim; Haifa, Israel) – this summer was the first time that Tents of Mercy took on an entire Messianic teen summer camp in Israel to equip young Israeli believers for the final harvest. The camp begins on Sunday, July 13 and ends July 21 so please focus your prayers during these dates.
Jonathan Bernis (Jewish Voice; Odessa Bible Institute, Ukraine)— Jonathan has requested urgent prayer pertaining to anti-missionaries who are burning the Bibles that they distributed on their recent Ethiopia medical outreach to over 1,000 new Jewish believers and the two leaders of the Beta Israel synagogue that have been arrested on false charges and sentenced to 3 years in prison. www.jewishvoice.org.
Stewart and Chantal Winograd (Shalom Network International; Minsk, Belarus)— Stewart sends his thanks for prayers for his dad and family. His dad, Melvin A. Winograd, passed away in May.
Respectfully submitted
