This is interesting my Beloved

Why do a number of us return and dabble with the ways of Eygpt?

“I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments; and I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God . . .”

(Exodus 6:6–7a)

The reference here: “I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God” , is as a man would take his bride, marry her, and know her in the most intimate way. God himself is the Husband of Israel. He took her as his bride. He took her out of the mud, washed and clothed her, put a ring on her finger, and he put a beautiful crown on her head. Yet this, at times, is still not enough for his beautiful bride. At times she has looked back at the ways of Eygpt and she has lost her way and has had to be brought back to the good way.

So why is it that some of you, my beloved, dabble with the ways of the pagans? You who are redeemed by an outstretched arm, the sons and daughters of the Most High, why do you go back and consult Horoscopes?

Divination and looking to creation or psychic powers

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer.” Deuteronomy 18.10

Then they made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and practiced divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him. 2 Kings 17.17

When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?” Isaiah 8.19

You are wearied with your many counsels; let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who at the new moons make known what shall come upon you. Behold, they are like stubble; the fire consumes them; they cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. Isaiah 47.13-14a

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator. Romans 1.25

Consider your ways my Beloved, beautiful bride. Do not let your eyes go astray and you follow after false gods and the anger of the Lord be ignited against you.

Show me your unfailing love in the morning, for I put my trust in you O LORD.
